About Uncle John Ardern

“The Researcher”  –   “The nosiest man in the World” “The Uncle”  -    “Uncle” is the English word for the Greek word “Mentor”   My biog and major influencers on my life   Born 1945  EnglishLakeDistrict (Dad was an “evacuee” from Liverpool Hospital Board during the War)   Peripatetic childhood/youth (7 different schools/13 different homes over first 18 years of  my life) (having to learn how to make friends quickly and easily) (Geoffrey Petch – History teacher atGooleGrammar School) (learned how to research around a subject not just on the subject)   1963-66 ManchesterUniversity – Social Anthropology -  The Professor Max Gluckman – my own personal tutor – invited to his house (afterwards, I wrote to my Dad – “I thought we had a load of books in our house, then I went to his”) -  University Societies – from CND to Asst. Social Secretary –  - Lorraine Gray -  learned how to evaluate friends -common values/interests -  became a Humanist 1966-70 Co-op -  Burt Cross 1970-81 Cussons/ PZ Cussons -   Philip Kemp   1981-to date Own business – Really Useful Research & Development Consultancy -  Bob LeeJeff EdisDavid FisherKeith BradshawGraham Hoyle -  Adrian Banger     Family Happily co-habiting with my partner “in business and in pleasure” – Jean Wharton Proud father of 4 lovely daughters - Ann Cooper - Helen Pratten - Steph Turri (RIP) - Nessa Barclay and proud grand-father to 5 lovely grand-children so far – Daniel Cooper - Anthony Cooper - Heather Cooper - Molly Barclay   – Mason Barclay and also 2 great-grand-children - Stanley Cooper –  Ted Cooper
